Battlefield V’s existence has finally been confirmed by EA DICE. Little is known about the game yet, with some speculating that the title will be set during World War II. The last main entry to the series, 2016’s Battlefield 1, had a World War I setting. There will be a reveal event for Battlefield V taking place on May 23, hosted by South African comedian Trevor Noah.
Although EA DICE has updated the Battlefield website to promote the new title, there is very little information given away about the forthcoming first-person shooter. There has been a rumor that the game may feature a battle royale mode. As the series already has a huge fanbase (around 54 million players) then it would be possible for Battlefield V to immediately challenge the popularity of games such as Fortnite and PUBG if this mode is included.
The reveal event takes place on May 23 at 1 p.m. PT, 4 p.m. ET, 10 p.m. CET. The livestream will be available on Twitch and Mixer as well as YouTube and the official Battlefield website. EA DICE are using the slogan “Battlefield will never be the same” to promote the event, so perhaps Battlefield V will be ringing the changes to the series.
