Techland has a freebie in tow for gamers who have already bought the game, as it celebrates its successful launch amid positive reception on Steam: the Spectral Bat.

Just one day after launch on September 18, Techland surprised Dying Light: The Beast players with a free in-game weapon known as the Spectral Bat as a thank you to the community for propelling the game to “Very Positive” on Steam. The game has also achieved a milestone all-time peak of 107,651 concurrent players at the time of writing.

Techland announced X and celebrated the game’s Very Positive score on Steam, stating:

“We’re Grateful for Very Positive on Steam - Now Enjoy Your Reward! You are incredible! With over 8,000 reviews on Steam and an incredible 90% recommending Dying Light: The Beast, you have made the game “Very Positive”. As a token of our gratitude, we’re adding a special gift for every player: the Spectral Bat.

In order to get it, just update your game! We couldn’t be more grateful! Thanks for Unleashing the Beast.”

Originally planned as a DLC for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, but later released as a standalone game in the new Eurasian Castor Woods locale, Dying Light: The Beast has achieved a staggering 13,521 reviews on Steam, with a 90.1% rating

The Spectral Bat, adorned in red blood spatter, is available to all Dying Light: The Beast owners across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S|X. Techland has always given back to its community, dating back to the original Dying Light, which received an Enhanced Edition update before The Beast’s release, along with quality-of-life updates for Dying Light 2.

Dying Light: The Beast marks the return of Kyle Crane from the original game, after enduring years of torture from the Baron. The game throws players into the Swiss Alps-inspired region of Castor Woords, with a more grounded approach, akin to the feel of the original Dying Light.

For players that are yet to try out Dying Light: The Beast, you can enjoy up to 40 hours of gameplay packed with rich side quests and a sprawling open-world map for $39.99 for the Standard Edition, with a Deluxe upgrade offering extras like the Hero of Harran Bundle. Furthermore, Dying Light: The Beast will also arrive at the tail end of 2025 on last-generation consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One.
