Techland's Dying Light: The Beast now supports Intel's XeSS 2 upscaling technology, delivering up to 4x performance improvements through AI-powered frame generation and resolution enhancement. The standalone game, featuring Kyle Crane's return after 13 years of captivity, supports multiple upscaling technologies, including DLSS 4 and FSR 4 for comprehensive hardware compatibility.

Techland has equipped Dying Light: The Beast with Intel's XeSS 2 upscaling technology, which promises to bring in significant performance improvements to the new game. The standalone game, which launched September 18, 2025, after garnering over one million pre-orders, now supports Intel's suite of AI-powered gaming enhancements.

For context, the XeSS 2 is Intel’s answer to Nvidia's DLSS 4 and AMD's FSR 4 technologies. It combines three key components that work together to optimize performance. XeSS Super Resolution provides AI-enhanced upscaling, XeSS Frame Generation creates additional frames between rendered ones, while Xe Low Latency reduces input lag for more responsive gameplay.

Along with Intel's XeSS 2, the game also supports Nvidia DLSS 4 and AMD FSR 3.1/4.0, which provide players with upscaling options across different hardware configurations. However, it should be noted that XeSS 2 now works with Nvidia GeForce RTX and AMD Radeon RX graphics cards. As per Intel’s report, testing on various systems has demonstrated impressive performance gains, with up to 4x frame rate increases in supported titles.

The integration comes at a crucial time for the franchise, as Dying Light: The Beast is Techland's most ambitious standalone expansion to date. Originally conceived as DLC for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, the project evolved into a full game featuring Kyle Crane's transformation into a beast-human hybrid after 13 years of captivity and experimentation.

To add to that, Techland, the developer, has been actively involved with major updates to previous titles in the franchise. For instance, Techland's five-year support commitment for Dying Light 2 delivered substantial updates, including the Firearms Update, improved parkour physics, enhanced night mechanics with roaming Volatiles, and the Bloody Ties DLC.
