Dreame Leaptic Cube action cam launches in October with three magnetic modules
IFAThe Dreame Leaptic Cube action camera was originally announced earlier this year, but at the time, Dreame did not want to confirm details regarding price and availability. That has now changed, as we were able to check out the camera at the Dreame booth at IFA in Berlin and learned that the Leaptic Cube will launch in Europe in October for €400 ($464).
Since the original announcement, the action camera has been enhanced with a power bank module that further extends battery life. Apart from that, the Leaptic Cube consists of a very compact action camera module and a touchscreen module with a larger battery, which extends the runtime from 90 to 200 minutes.
The camera can be used on its own, which is said to make it smaller and lighter than competitors such as the DJI Osmo Action 4 ($209 on Amazon) – ideal for attaching the camera to a helmet or a dog’s collar, for example. Control is available either via the large touchscreen or the accompanying smartphone app. The order in which the modules are stacked is flexible, just like Dreame’s accessory lineup, which includes, among other things, an underwater housing.
At the heart of the camera is a 50-megapixel sensor in the 1/1.3-inch format, paired with an f/2.8 ultra-wide-angle lens offering a 155-degree field of view. The camera can record 8K videos, 4K HDR videos, and 4K slow-motion footage at 120 frames per second. Dreame touts a dynamic range of 13.5 stops.
