We already reviewed the base model of the current Dell XPS 15 9570 and now check the more expensive SKU with a faster Core i7 CPU as well as the high-resolution 4K UHD touchscreen. How does the slim chassis handle the additional performance and what is the effect on the battery runtime?

The Dell XPS 15’s premium design, outstanding display, and unrivalled performance renders the ‘best ever Windows laptop’ even better - with high value-for-money - despite a handful of bugbears that remain unaddressed.

The Dell XPS 15 has managed to oust much of its competition in terms of value, especially in 4K media work and in spite of yet another poor webcam position and lackluster audio, earning it TechRadar’s Great Value award.

Productivity, multimedia and even a bit of gaming -- the Dell XPS 15 can do it all -- and do it well. For $1,549, you get a system that has an attractive, slim design that's bursting with power, including an Intel Core i7 processor and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Max-Q. The keyboard is surprisingly comfortable, and the display is simply lovely. Throw in nearly 12 hours of battery life, and you've got a certified beast. It's just enough to overlook the annoying camera placement.

The 15-inch still suffers from the XPS line's biggest flaw -- an ill-placed webcam -- but, overall, this is one of the best Windows laptops you can buy and a formidable foe to Apple's much pricier 15-inch MacBook Pro. The Dell XPS 15 offers serious power and nearly 12 hours of battery life in an attractive chassis.

I gave the XPS 15 9570 a score of 4/5 in my initial review, noting that despite its flaws, it’s still one of the best all-around notebooks money can buy. This is still somehow true, but these issues remaining with the machine nearly 6 months after launch cannot be ignored, and I would now rate the XPS 15 9570 more like a 3/5.

Sure, the latest XPS 15 starts at $999, but the one you probably want will fall in the $2,000 range. Our opinion is that the hexa-core processor, speedy memory, 4K touchscreen, capacious and speedy SSD, and gaming-ready GeForce graphics are all worth it to match the capabilities that the premium chassis exudes. Dell keeps the quality and the performance going in the XPS 15 line with the new 9570 model, making it easy to recommend and worthy of our Editor's Choice award once again as well. The new Dell XPS 15 is simply one of, if not the best, premium 15-inch laptops on the market.

Dell absolutely delivers on bringing the full power of Intel’s new processors to its premium laptop, pairing it with strong graphics to challenge Apple’s domain in the 15-inch space.

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
