IFA 2018 | Dell XPS 13 9370 is getting a new Kaby Lake-R Core i3 option
Dell's successful XPS 13 9370 is currently shipping with only two CPU options: the Core i5-8250U and Core i7-8550U. The lineup will soon be expanding to include the slower dual-core Core i3-8130U at a new lower starting price of $900 USD in order to attract more potential users.
Nothing else has changed for the new entry-level SKU. The system will continue to ship with the same set of features as its pricier configurations including Dynamic Power Mode, GORE thermal insulation, aluminum chassis, and Rose Gold color option with glass fiber palm rests.
It's important to keep in mind that the budget-conscious Core i3 SKU will very likely be equipped with just 4 GB of non-upgradeable RAM. Heavy multi-taskers may want to invest a bit more on the mid-range SKU with 8 GB of RAM instead.
So, what about a new high-end SKU to top the current Core i7-8550U? According to Dell, SKUs with Intel Iris graphics are not yet ready for the XPS 13 9370 series and so owners will have to make do with the slower UHD Graphics 620 for now. The last generation XPS 13 9360 shipped with the Core i7-7560U CPU that integrates a faster Iris Plus Graphics 640 GPU.
Expect the XPS 13 with Core i3 to begin shipping on September 11 or the same day as the refreshed XPS 13 2-in-1. The news comes on the same day as the Whiskey Lake Inspiron refresh.
