Dell Precision 3540 and 3541 will offer Core i9-9880H options for business users on a tight budget
Dell will be kicking off its annual Dell Technologies World conference in Las Vegas this week with the announcement of several new business-centric products. Two of these products are the 15.6-inch Precision 3540 and Precision 3541 mobile workstations. In contrast to the mid-range Precision 5000 series and high-end Precision 7000 series, these Precision 3000 models will cater to budget-conscious users with much lower starting prices.
Both the Precision 3540 and 3541 will share the same chassis design and connectivity options. Instead, the main differences between them will be their CPU and GPU options. The 3540 will have 8th gen 15 W Intel CPUs up to the Core i7-8665U with Radeon Pro WX 2100 graphics while the 3541 will have much more powerful options up to a 9th gen 35 W Core i9-9880H CPU and Nvidia Quadro P620 GPU. The 3541 will include a Xeon option as well to support ECC memory.
Thunderbolt 3 and webcam shutter will come standard across all SKUs with optional touchscreen and Wi-Fi 6 or 802.11ax. Since the 3541 will be equipped with significantly more powerful internals, the unit will weigh about 135 grams heavier than the 3540 and ship with a larger AC adapter.
The Precision 3540 is now available for a starting price of $800 while the Precision 3541 will begin shipping in May.
