Decathlon reveals new Van Rysel E-EDR AF lightweight electric road bike
Decathlon has launched the Van Rysel E-EDR AF electric road bike in the EU. The model has a Mahle X35 system, with ANT+ and BLE connectivity, and provides three assistance speeds up to a maximum of 25 kph (~16 mph). A 250Wh battery allows you to travel with assistance for up to 100 km (~62 miles), helping you on longer rides or steeper climbs.
The E-EDR AF’s battery is not removable, fully recharging in four to five hours and expected to last for 500 cycles. Plus, an extender can increase the range to 160 km (~100 miles). The integrated BC 900 GPS cyclometer shows your remaining battery charge and assistance level. Plus, you can connect your phone to view data collected about your journey in the Decathlon Connect app. Alternatively, you can view similar statistics in the Mahle app. Other features of the 12-speed e-road bike include the SRAM APEX AXS groupset with hydraulic disc brakes and 32 mm (~1.3-in) wide tires.
The AF in the bicycle’s name nods to the aluminum frame, which is relatively lightweight, with the medium-sized model weighing 14 kg (~31 lbs), including the motor and battery. Two versions are offered in red and lilac with slightly different saddles. You can buy the Decathlon Van Rysel E-EDR AF e-road bike in countries like the Netherlands, France, Spain and Italy for €2,799.99. Whether or when the model could arrive in the US or the UK remains unclear.
