DJI readies launch event for new device as leakers reveal key specifications and product images

Various sources have shared pre-release details about DJI's next-generation microphone transmitter and receiver. For context, while DJI is best known for its action cameras and drones, it also sells handheld gimbals and microphone equipment. Arguably, the latter is its least explored category though, with only release since late 2021.

As the leaked images below show, DJI has developed a second-generation model under the name DJI Mic 2. Seemingly, the forthcoming microphone transmitter and receiver combination surpasses the current model in five areas. For one, DJI has included a slightly larger touchscreen display that measures 1.1-inches across. However, the company has added a small dial for controlling UI elements that its predecessor lacked.

Additionally, the DJI Mic 2 adds Bluetooth connectivity and 'intelligent noise cancelling', as well as improved runtimes and support for 32-bit float audio recordings. Up to 14 hours of stored audio recordings remains unchanged though, as does the inclusion of 3.5 mm, Lightning and USB Type-C adapters. Moreover, the Mic 2 will ship with several accessories, including a windscreen, a clip magnet and a small carrying pouch. Although pricing has not surfaced yet, DJI has teased the release of its 'pocket-sized pro audio' for January 17 at 13:00 EST.
