Crimson Desert multiplayer update and Switch 2 port testing, Peal Abyss talks plans

Pearl Abyss has been busy optimizing and improving Crimson Desert, a game that launched in March and has since seen quite a lot of success. The developers have been praised by the community for the rapid updates and quick fixes. Now, the team has shared updates on the possibility of a multiplayer mode and the Switch 2 port.
CEO Heo Jin-young, COO Lee Dong-won, and CFO Cho Mi-young were present at a briefing for shareholders (via Inven Global) where they answered some questions about the future of Crimson Desert. When asked about the possibility of a multiplayer mode, the CEO said they are conducting studies on the technical feasibility and gameplay mechanics. Heo believes there is room for multiplayer in Crimson Desert as a way to expand the game further.
This is a welcome update as Peal Abyss initially had no plans of adding multiplayer to the game. That said, the CEO also added that incorporating multiplayer is a major task and requires “reviewing server structures, balance, platform-specific stability, and operating systems.”
As for the Switch 2 port, it looks like a version of the game that runs on the handheld exists. The team needs to optimize and get it ready for technical verification. They want to maintain the graphics, open-world experience, and the action of Crimson Desert on the Switch 2. Back in March, Peal Abyss started R&D on the Switch 2 version and believed that they would have to give up on some aspects due to hardware limitations. Whether that is still the case is unclear.
For now, there is no timeline for either of the updates, but it is good news nonetheless. The developers are focused on bringing more content to the game, as well as expanding to other platforms.
