Moving from a 17-inch laptop to a 15-inch one would typically entail just minor performance deficits. It's usually not until you reach the 14-inch or 13-inch range where performance would begin to drop like a rock due to cooling and size limitations. The Asus ROG Flow X13 2-in-1 attempts to offer everything and the kitchen sink with its 13.4-inch convertible form factor, H-class Zen 3 Ryzen 9 5900HS CPU, and even a discrete GeForce RTX 3050 Ti GPU. Needless to say, this is one of the fastest (if not the fastest) 13-inch touchscreen laptop in the market.
Best Buy is currently running a sale on said Asus subnotebook for $250 USD off the original launch price of $1500 USD. The configuration is notable as it is the late 2020 SKU instead of the early 2020 SKU which launched with the slower Ryzen 9 5800H CPU, GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GPU, and 60 Hz display instead of 120 Hz. Everything else from the chassis to the keyboard remain identical between the two versions.
We recommend reading up on our review of the Asus ROG Flow X13 to learn more about the ins and outs of this unique system. During our time with the test unit, we appreciated its performance and display even though all that power came at the cost of louder fan noise and warmer surface temperatures.
