Hunt the Pale Gods combines tactical deckbuilding with dark cosmic horror. The roguelike is 90% off on Steam until May 11 and is currently available for just under $1.50, marking a new all-time low.

In Hunt the Pale Gods, players enter a dark cosmic horror world and face the aspects of ancient deities. Several playable characters confront the Pale Gods and turn their powers against them over the course of a run. The so-called Aspects function as thematic paths: Primordial, Progeny, Abyssal, Umbral and Eye each introduce their own enemies, mechanics, bosses and rewards. As a result, runs differ not only by cards and characters, but also by the chosen divine threat.

In terms of gameplay, the title is reminiscent of classic roguelike deckbuilders, but expands the formula with movement and positioning on a tactical grid. Enemy attacks must be avoided, terrain and altars used cleverly, and foes thrown off balance through the game’s stagger system. More than 250 cards, 120 Curios and 11 characters offer plenty of room for build variety.

Hunt the Pale Gods has only collected 43 Steam reviews since its release in March 2025, but an impressive 97% of them are positive. Players particularly praise the strong deckbuilding, tactical battles and dark cosmic horror atmosphere. Criticism is mainly directed at the high difficulty level and pronounced RNG dependency: the success of a run often depends heavily on the cards and Curios obtained.

First 90% discount on Steam

Hunt the Pale Gods comes from Nick Papageorgiou, who is listed on Steam as the sole developer and publisher, and normally costs $14.99. A 90% discount reduces the price to $1.49 until May 11. According to SteamDB, the previous highest discount was 85%, first reached during the Spring Sale 2026. The current deal therefore marks a new all-time low. Steam Deck compatibility is currently listed as “Unknown”.
