Children of Morta is an action RPG developed by the American studio Dead Mage and published by 11 bit studios. Available on Steam since September 3, 2019, it lets you control several members of the Bergson family as they fight the Corruption threatening their world.

Its gameplay blends RPG, roguelike, and hack-and-slash mechanics. With a story that explores various themes such as love, hope, and loss, you will cross procedurally generated dungeons with two to four levels, each ending with a unique boss.

And to overcome the dangers that threaten your world, seven members of your family are at your disposal, each with unique abilities. Indeed, you can fight as John, who wields a sword and shield, Linda, who fights with a bow, or Lucy, a fire mage. But while they have special abilities, basic attacks can also be very effective. And if you want to play with a friend, co-op mode is available in Story and Family Trials modes.

Like many other games, Children of Morta has received positive reviews on Steam. Indeed, 88% of its 22,665 reviews are positive. The situation is similar on Metacritic, which shows a Metascore of 82 and a user score of 7.9. According to players, they enjoy the game's story, its gameplay, and the co-op mode. However, the game can feel repetitive as you progress, and the combat mechanics can sometimes feel tedious. Additionally, the developers have not fixed many bugs that have been reported by players over the years. 

Nevertheless, Children of Morta is currently 85% off on Steam, available for $3.29 instead of $21.99 through May 19, 2026. However, according to SteamDB, this price was first reached on June 26, 2025.
