Verdict on the Ugreen Nexode Air 65W USB-C

In our testing, the Ugreen Nexode Air 65W GaN proved to be a powerful and exceptionally compact USB-C charger for everyday use. Thanks to GaN technology, it combines high charging power with a space-saving design, making it well suited to users who want to carry only one power adapter for their smartphone, tablet, and laptop while traveling.

The Nexode Air delivers up to 65 watts and supports a broad range of current charging standards. In addition to USB Power Delivery 3.2, it supports PPS, Quick Charge 3.0/4+, Samsung AFC, Huawei FCP, and other widely used charging protocols. Devices with USB-C and PD support benefit in particular from fast, efficient charging. It can also provide sufficient power for many compact laptops and ultrabooks without difficulty.

The main limitations concern devices from manufacturers that use proprietary fast-charging technologies. Standards such as OPPO SuperVOOC and Xiaomi HyperCharge are not supported. Compatible smartphones will still charge reliably, but they will not reach the maximum speeds offered by their original power adapters.

Overall, the Ugreen Nexode Air 65W GaN is a convincing option for anyone looking for a universal, efficient, and travel-friendly charger. Its main strengths are its broad USB-C compatibility, compact design, and modern PD and PPS support. However, users with smartphones that rely on proprietary ultra-fast charging technology should continue using the manufacturer’s power adapter to achieve the highest possible charging speeds.

Pros

+ Compact design
+ High charging power
+ Good efficiency

Cons

- Only one USB-C port
- Can get hot under load

Compact chargers have become standard equipment for many tech users. Anyone who regularly moves between a home office, a workplace, and travel destinations wants to carry as little weight as possible without sacrificing performance. This is where the Ugreen Nexode Air 65W GaN comes in.

Thanks to gallium nitride (GaN) technology, the power adapter is significantly smaller than conventional silicon-based chargers with a comparable power output. At the same time, Ugreen claims high energy efficiency and intelligent power management designed to supply connected devices with the appropriate amount of power. Whether used with a smartphone, tablet, or ultrabook, the Nexode Air is intended to serve as the everyday charger for nearly all mobile devices.

Design - The Nexode Air is compact and lightweight

The Ugreen Nexode Air 65W GaN stands out for its exceptionally compact design, made possible by efficient GaN technology. Its low weight and small dimensions make it a practical charger for use on the go.

The matte plastic housing feels well made, resists fingerprints, and gives a sturdy impression. Rounded edges make it comfortable to handle. Ugreen keeps the design understated: The Nexode Air 65W is available in black and white, among other colors, allowing it to blend in discreetly alongside smartphones, tablets, and laptops. The orange and blue models, as well as the turquoise Honkai: Star Rail Edition, offer more colorful alternatives.

Charging performance - The Nexode Air 65W USB-C can get hot

With a maximum output of 65 watts, the Ugreen Nexode Air provides enough headroom for most current devices. Modern smartphones charge quickly and, when compatible, can use fast-charging standards such as USB Power Delivery and PPS. Tablets also benefit from the available power. The charger is particularly useful for owners of lightweight laptops. Many current models from manufacturers such as Apple, Lenovo, Dell, Asus, and HP can be powered or charged via USB-C at up to 65 watts without issue. Although this output is insufficient for high-performance gaming laptops, it is more than adequate for ultrabooks and office laptops.

During testing, we regularly used the charger with the Honor MagicBook Art 14. In this setup, it temporarily drew up to 67.7 watts from the wall. However, this occurred only at the beginning of the charging process. After a few minutes, power consumption settled between 58 and 65 watts, with minor fluctuations. Over time, parts of the power adapter reached temperatures of up to 50.9°C in our FLIR measurements, which is quite hot. With no device connected, the Ugreen Nexode Air consumed just 0.028 watts.

Compatibility - Ugreen Nexode supports a wide range of devices

The Nexode Air 65W supports USB Power Delivery 3.2, including AVS and PPS, as well as widely used fast-charging protocols such as Quick Charge, Samsung AFC, and Huawei FCP. Proprietary standards such as SuperVOOC and Xiaomi HyperCharge are not supported, however, so affected smartphones fall back to USB Power Delivery or another compatible charging standard.
