Deal | Certified-refurbished Acer Predator Triton 14 with i7-13700H, RTX 4070 and Mini LED display drops under $1,000
With the latest RTX 5000 generation of mobile GPUs getting close to availability, laptop OEMs are looking to unload remaining models with the previous gen GPUs at steep discounts. Acer, for instance, is now selling certified-refurbished Predator Triton 14 laptops with RTX 4070 GPUs at just $963.99 on Ebay.
Now, these models are from 2023, yet the specs are still above average, especially at this price point. Besides the RTX 4070 with 8 GB VRAM and 105 W TGP and the Intel i7-13700H processor from a couple of years back, this model actually features quite a few premium-grade specs.
Even though it is only a 14-inch panel, the 2560 x 1600 Mini LED display quality rivals that of much more expensive models. It comes with variable 125 Hz - 250 Hz refresh rate and DisplayHDR 600 certification. Reviews across the net reveal that the peak brightness in HDR mode can actually reach 710 nits full screen, while in SDR it goes up to 442 nits. Color reproduction is very good, as well, with close to 100% DCI-P3 and 92% aRGB.
Other more premium features include a Thunderbolt 4 port, along with an HDMI video out, 2x USB-A 10 Gbps ports and a Micro SD card reader, plus a fingerprint reader integrated in the touchpad. The keyboard gets per-key RGB lighting, like any respectable premium gaming laptop.
Of course, the RAM is limited to 16 GB, but at least Acer provides fast LPDDR5-6400 specs for it, and the model also features 1 TB PCie 4.0 SSD storage. Due to the smaller form-factor, a LAN jack is not provided, yet the wireless connectivity card is a quality Killer AX1675i one with Wi-Fi 6E speeds and BT 5.3.
Speaking of smaller form-factor, the chassis thickness is only 0.78-inches, while the unit weighs around 3.8 lbs (1.7 kg). The only real downside is the relatively big and heavy power brick.
