Acer appears to be planning a return to the smartphone market after a hiatus that has lasted over five years. The Taiwanese brand will mark its return with two entry-level smartphones which will be sold in India under the Acerpure brand name.

After a hiatus from making Android smartphones, Acer is ready to get back into the phone business starting with two models for the Indian market. The new phones will run Android and will be sold under the Acerpure brand name which it currently uses for its home appliances.

Acer is yet to announce a launch date for the new phones, but a leak has revealed images and specifications of the two devices. Posted on X by Sudhanshu Ambhore (@Sudhanshu1414), the two phones are currently known as the Acerone Liquid S162E4 and the Acerone Liquid S272E4.

Those familiar with the Acer smartphones of old will recognize the Liquid suffix which Acer used for some of its earlier phones such as the Liquid X2, a smartphone released in 2016 with support for three SIMs.

The Acerone Liquid S162E4 will have a 6.5'' display with an HD+ resolution. The LCD panel will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and it seems to refresh at 60Hz since there is no mention of the refresh rate. Acer will ship the phone with MediaTek's Helio P35 processor which was released back in late 2018. The phone will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

The phone will have a 16MP primary rear camera and a 0.08MP secondary camera. It will also have a 5MP front-facing camera. The Liquid S162E4 will ship with Android 14 out of the box. The leak also mentions the phone weighs 179g and measures 165.4 x 76.9 x 8.95 mm.

The Acerone Liquid S272E4, on the other hand, will have a slightly larger 6.7'' screen. It is still an LCD panel with an HD+ resolution and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It will be powered by MediaTek's Helio G36 processor, and also have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There's a 20MP primary camera on the back and a 0.3MP secondary sensor while the front-facing camera is a 5MP sensor.

Like the Liquid S162E4, this too will have a 5,000mAh battery and run Android 14 out of the box. It will be a tad heavier at 200 grams and measure 171 x 78.6 x 8.9 mm.

The leaked renders show the Acerone Liquid S162E4 and the Acerone Liquid S272E4 will have a display with a waterdrop notch for the camera and a thick bottom bezel. The Liquid S162E4 will be available in light blue while the Liquid S272E4 will be available in a darker shade of blue.

Based on the specs of the two phones, these are budget smartphones, so they should be pretty affordable. At the moment, there's no info on the phones being available outside of India, but considering their specifications, there isn't much anyone is missing out on.
