It has been weeks since Asus announced the launch date for its next flagship smartphone, the Zenfone 12 Ultra. That announcement has been followed by a couple of leaks and an official teaser video from the manufacturer itself. Now, just a few days to the announcement, a leak has revealed renders of the phone that provide our best look at the Android flagship.
The renders which were posted by Winfuture, show the front of the Zenfone 12 Ultra will look like its predecessor. The phone will have a centered punch hole for the front-facing camera and minimally slim bezels. However, on the back, Asus has made some refinements.
The Zenfone 12 Ultra will retain its triple camera setup like the Zenfone 11 Ultra (curr. available on Amazon.de for €840.33), however, the camera island has been redesigned — it is wider horizontally but shorter vertically. The glass around the main camera which is a 50MP sensor with OIS is darker and the LED flash has not only been moved to a new position but is now shaped like a pill. There's also an Asus logo in the camera island.
Asus has ditched the lines on the back of the Zenfone 11 Ultra. It has also moved the ASUS Zenfone branding from the top right corner of the phone to the middle.
The Zenfone 12 Ultra will be available in three colors - Black, Green, and Light Purple, and as seen from the renders, the color of the camera island and the frame will match that of the phone unlike the Zenfone 11 Ultra whose camera island and frame is black on all four colors.
Asus's upcoming flagship will retain the buttons and ports placements of the Zenfone 11 Ultra. The SIM card tray, USB-C port, and audio jack will be at the bottom while the buttons will sit on the right side of the frame.
The Zenfone 12 Ultra will have a 6.78'' LTPO OLED display with a 2400 x 1080 resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. Like the ROG Phone 9, it will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, have 8GB or 16GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
For cameras, the Zenfone 12 Ultra will have a 32MP front-facing camera, a 50MP Sony Lytia 700 primary rear camera with OIS, a 13MP ultrawide angle camera, and a 32MP telephoto camera with OIS and 3x optical zoom.
The Zenfone 12 Ultra will stick to the battery capacity and charging technology of the previous generation which is a 5,500mAh battery capacity with support for 65W fast wired charging and 15W fast wireless charging. It will also have an IP68 dust and water resistance rating and ship with Android 15 out of the box.
