Casio launches new minimalist watches with metal casing

Casio has released two new MTP-C666 watches in China. These analog watches are referred to as the 2025 Exam Gift Box range, and have been designed for students taking key exams in February and March.
The Casio MTP-C666-1B is a black dial watch with white indexes, while the MTP-C666-7B has a white face with black details. Both versions have a silver tone stainless steel casing and come with a black resin watch strap. The round casing measures 42.7 x 36.0 x 8.1 mm (~1.68 x 1.42 x 0.32 inches) and is water resistant for everyday use. Another design feature is found on the metal case back. Here, an image of a carp is engraved; this symbolises the Chinese Longmen legend, which is used as a metaphor for students succeeding in their exams. Plus, these watches come with custom red, black and gold packaging.
Casio’s MTP-C666 has three hands for the hour, minute and second, and should remain accurate to within 20 seconds each month. According to the product listing, it is powered by an SR626SW battery, which should run for around three years.
In China, the Casio MTP-C666-1B and MTP-C666-7B watches retail for CNY 390 (~$57). Based on the theme of these watches, it seems unlikely that these products will be released in other markets like the US. Here, the brand sells other MTP series watches, like the MTP-S110-1AV (curr. $100.26 at Amazon).
