CalDigit has announced the TS5 and TS5 Plus docking stations for North America and Europe. The two accessories build on the brand’s older Thunderbolt docks, like the TS4, and are compatible with various Mac and PC devices. The TS5 has a total of 15 ports, while the TS5 Plus has 20 ports.
Both the TS5 and TS5 Plus connect to the host device via Thunderbolt 5 for 120Gb/s performance and up to 140W charging. Plus, the PCIe performance has doubled compared to the TS4 to 64 GT/s. You can connect up to three displays with up to 4K@144Hz or 8K@60Hz for dual displays, where supported by the host device. Monitors can be connected via Thunderbolt 5 or DisplayPort (TS5 Plus only).
While the TS5 has a total of four Thunderbolt 5 ports, the TS5 Plus has three. However, the Plus has more USB-C and USB-A ports, five of each, for a 10 Gb/s data transfer rate. It is worth noting that the TS5 Plus has dual USB controllers for increased bandwidth. Plus, the TS5 offers 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, but the TS5 Plus has 10 Gigabit Ethernet. Both come with a DC power supply and offer three audio jacks, as well as SD 4.0 (UHS-II) and microSD 4.0 (UHS-II).
The CalDigit TS5 Plus docking station will launch in the US later in April for $499.99, with the TS5 arriving in May for $369.99. This makes the TS5 slightly cheaper than the TS4 in the US, currently available at Amazon for $379.99. In Europe, the TS5 Plus will launch in May and will be priced at €469, followed by the TS5 in June, which will have a €350 RRP.
