Buy a Mac, score free Beats: Apple's back-to-school deal is now live
Apple's annual back-to-school sale starts today with an offer that it hopes is music to college students' ears. The company has discounted its selection of Macs by up to $300, and is throwing in a pair of wireless Beats headphones for free with each purchase. The offer is available for students currently in or about to start college only, and requires verification of enrollment status.
The Macs eligible for this offer are the MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, Mac Pro, and Mac Mini. Buy any of these products, and you will get to choose from one of three Beats models: the Solo3 on-ear headphones, the Powerbeats 3, or a pair of BeatsX.
The Beats offer also extends to any purchase of an iPad Pro, with one difference. According to TechCrunch, getting an iPad Pro qualifies you for a free pair of BeatsX. However, if you prefer one of the other two models, Apple will give you a $150 discount on them instead. Unfortunately, there is no huge price reduction on the iPad Pro itself. Apple is offering a mere $20 off its regular price, which currently starts from $629.
The iPad and iPad Mini 4 are also advertised in the back-to-school promotion, but there seem to be no special offers for either device.
Maybe you're not really interested in just buying a new Mac or iPad; maybe you want to trade in your current device as well. In that case, Apple has you covered. It is offering up to $1,500 for any Mac trade-ins. Of course, the total amount you get will depend on the type and condition of your computer.
Finally, Apple Music is available for $4.99, with a 3-month trial available before committing to the service. As with the rest of the deals mentioned, this offer is restricted to current students.
Don't worry about having to rush to take advantage of these offers. The back-to-school sale lasts all through July and August, and ends until September 25.
