Brace yourself for a seismic shift: Sony Xperia 1 VIII promises massive camera upgrades in new official teaser

Sony revealed the launch date for a new Xperia Product Announcement a few days ago. Currently, the company is remaining quiet about the contents of this announcement. However, it has now shared a second teaser video on social media before its May 13 event.
Embedded below, the 21-clip starts by showing rock formations moving over each other. Then, at 10 seconds in, Sony focuses on three cross sections with a fourth in the background. Finally, the camera zooms out to reveal these rocks in a room behind a screen with three circular cut-outs.
For context, these cut-outs match the layout shown in Sony's first teaser video. Also, they align with the camera design highlighted by recent leaks. Sony adds that fans should brace themselves 'for a seismic shift', presumably in reference to the Xperia 1 VIII's new camera system.
According a retailer leak, Sony has equipped the Xperia 1 VIII with a new periscope camera that outputs at 48 MP with a 1/1.56-inch optical format and 3x optical zoom. The smartphone is also expected to line up with a 120 Hz OLED display and the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset as the Poco F8 Ultra, Magic8 Pro and the OnePlus 15 (curr. $899 on Amazon) that we have already reviewed.
