Sony has officially unveiled the Midnight Black Pulse 3D wireless headset, which is available for pre-order at a price of US$99.99. This means the new addition to the PS5 accessory range has the same price tag as the original white Pulse 3D headset. The Midnight Black variant has a release date of October 22 and is also compatible for use with the PS4.
Coming shortly after the release of the Midnight Black and Cosmic Red DualSense controllers, the black Pulse 3D headset offers PlayStation 5 owners the same immersive audio qualities as the white SKU. Up to 12 hours of wireless play is possible and there are two built-in microphones for in-game chatting. The Pulse 3D wireless headset can also be used in combination with PlayStation VR.
Unsurprisingly, the official reveal trailer for the accessory has attracted many comments asking about either official black plates for the current white PS5 or a potential Midnight Black PS5 console to join this growing Midnight Black Collection. However, with component shortages still affecting supply, it seems unlikely a black PS5 will turn up before 2022, when a console redesign is expected to also feature a 6 nm semi-custom chip from AMD.
