Best choice for parents? Smart Case transformes ThinkTab X11 into a kids tablet

The new ThinkTab from Lenovo has been tested according to the MIL-STD-810H military standard and features an IP68 rating, meaning the casing is not only durable but also dust- and water-resistant. It also features a special display mode for use with gloves and wet hands.
Lenovo is positioning its first ThinkTab tablet primarily for professional use in business environments, but the 10.95-inch Android tablet, when paired with a special case, is also suitable for use beyond the warehouse. Pricing for the ThinkTab X11 Gen 1 starts at around $500.
Thanks to its durable case, the Lenovo tablet can also work as a kids' tablet
The protective case for the ThinkTab X11 isn't as colorful as the cases for the Fire Kids Edition, but it still serves a similar purpose, especially since the Lenovo tablet is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and is therefore quite resistant to scratches.
Lenovo claims that its mid-range tablet, when paired with the Smart Case, can survive drops onto wood from heights of up to 1.5 meters and onto hard surfaces, such as tile floors, from up to 1.2 meters without damage. The Rugged Smart Case uses shock‑absorbing TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), includes attachment points for carrying straps on the back, and even provides a slot for storing the Tab Pen XE.
The case is well-made and, despite being made of plastic, doesn’t feel cheap. However, the Lenovo tablet still weighs a hefty 821 grams.
A very well-equipped Android tablet that’s also perfectly suited to everyday family life
The ThinkTab X11 Gen 1 isn’t just suited to the rigors of everyday work. Many of its strengths could also make it a surprisingly attractive choice as a family tablet. In addition to its exceptional durability, its long battery life and comprehensive features are particularly appealing for everyday family use.
A real highlight is the 10,200-mAh battery. In our review, we achieved a battery life of nearly 30 hours, making it ideal for long car rides or use with educational apps. By comparison, an iPad 10 only manages about 10 hours here.
The combination of two USB ports, an affordable storage expansion via microSD cards of up to 2 TB, and extensive connectivity options such as a 3.5-mm jack also makes the ThinkTab X11 a true all-rounder.
