Barnes & Noble partners with Lenovo for Nook Reading Tablet 8.7

Barnes & Noble might be best known for its Nook eReaders such as the Nook Glowlight 4, but it also releases Android tablets from time to time. After a few years since its last Android tablet, it has decided to launch a new model that will be sold as the Nook Reading Tablet 8.7.

The new tablet, like its last model, the Nook 9'' Lenovo Tablet, is manufactured by Lenovo. As a matter of fact, the Nook Reading Tablet 8.7 is a rebadge of the Lenovo Tab One (available on Amazon for $89.99) released in March 2025, albeit with a few changes.

The Nook Reading Tablet 8.7 has an 8.7-inch HD IPS display with an oleophobic coating and blue light protection. Nook says the display has a grayscale reading mode which should mimic the E Ink display of an e-reader. It also has a chromatic reading mode for color content.

Powering the Nook Reading Tablet 8.7 is MediaTek's Helio G85 processor, and it is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There's a microSD card for adding up to an additional 1TB of storage. The tablet also has Bluetooth 5.1, an audio jack, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, and an immersive reading mode for adding ambient sounds.

This is a budget tablet, so don't expect great pictures from its 8MP rear camera or the 2MP sensor on the front. The battery capacity is 5100mAh, with an advertised battery life of up to 16.5 hours and support for 15W wired charging. Barnes & Noble includes a 20W adapter and a USB-C charging cable in the box.

The Nook Reading Tablet 8.7 ships with Android 15 with the Nook Reading Experience, whereas the Lenovo Tab One launched with Android 14. Buyers will have access to books, magazines, newspapers, and manga via the pre-installed Nook app.

Available in Seafoam Green and Luna Grey, the Nook Reading Tablet 8.7 costs $149.99 and can be pre-ordered from Barnes & Noble now, ahead of its release on March 17. Buyers can also purchase a $9.99 screen protector and a $19.99 protective case that allows for use in portrait and landscape mode. The case is available in Blush, Lavender, Matte Black, and Metallic Blue.
