The Asus ProArt P16 has received another refresh, less than a month after we previewed the machine with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090. For context, Asus only updated its 16-inch creator laptop with the GeForce RTX 5060 and GeForce RTX 5070 in the spring (curr. $2,899 on Amazon).
Now, Asus has brought the GeForce RTX 5090 variant to China, where it is available for CNY 29,999 (~$4,218) with an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU, 64 GB of RAM and a 4 TB SSD. Incidentally, Asus lists a similar SKU in the US for $3,999.99 but with 2 TB of storage instead of 4 TB. Please our video below for our initial thoughts on the ProArt P16's RTX 5090 refresh.
Additionally, Asus has decided to offer the same device with the cheaper GeForce RTX 5080. In our benchmarks, the GeForce RTX 5080 trails its GeForce RTX 5090 counterpart by around 10%. Nonetheless, the new GeForce RTX 5080 variant costs over 13% less at CNY 25,999 (~$3,655) despite retaining the same memory and APU configuration.
At this stage, Asus has not commented on GeForce RTX 5080 availability outside China. Likewise, the company's recent press release does not indicate as much, either. With that being said, we would be surprised if Asus held back this option for just the Chinese market, though.
