The Asus ZenFone series of smartphones has been successful enough to spawn multiple variations from budget to mainstream with essentially the same chassis design. The latest is the ZenFone Go ZC500TG for just under 160 Euros with a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720) resolution IPS display, quad-core MediaTek MT6580 SoC, 2 GB RAM, and 8 GB to 16 GB eMMC. Its rear and front cameras will be 8 MP and 2 MP, respectively, while the battery is removable and with dual SIM support. Other features are a MicroSD reader, WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0, and the standard 3.5 mm audio jack. The phone weighs just 135 grams, which is very light for a 5-inch design. Pre-orders are already available in parts of Europe through Simyo.de and will soon be available directly through the Asus online store.
Simyo.de is currently listing only one configuration of the ZenFone Go ZC500TG in Black and with just 8 GB of internal memory. Asus is promising at least five different colors and SKUs with double the internal memory capacity.
Android 5.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed with the Asus ZenUI interface. It is unknown if the smartphone will ever receive official updates to Android Marshmallow, though it is unlikely considering the entry-level category of the phone. Included extras are 100 GB of Google Drive storage for up to 2 years and 5 GB of Asus Webstorage.
