The ROG Strix Scar 17 from Asus not only has a fast 300 Hz display, but also especially powerful components. All the hardware is packed into a boldly designed case with many lighting elements.

LED fans get their money's worth with the Strix Scar 17. In addition to the keyboard, three side surfaces are also illuminated. In general, the case has a very unique visual design.

Despite the moderate height, Asus packs a GeForce RTX 2080 Super (but only the 150 watt version) under the hood of the top model G732LXS, which in combination with the Core i9-10980HK generates a lot of heat and especially noise. The absence of a webcam and a Thunderbolt 3 port could also deter some potential buyers.

On the positive side, the responsive 300 Hz display, the good input devices and the decent sound could be mentioned among other things. The battery life is surprisingly impressive, too.

All of the Scar 17's other strengths and weaknesses in our review.

From Monkey Island to Lands of Lore to Doom, everything was gambled that you could get your hands on. I have been working for Notebookcheck since 2009 with focus on high-performance gaming notebooks.
