Asus Oxiis turns bicycle into e-bike with USB-C and 500W motor
Asus may be best known for laptops and PC components, but the tech giant also offers a few rather unusual products, such as the PureGo PD100, which detects how clean fruits and vegetables are. Now, with the Oxiis E250G1, Asus is introducing a product designed to transform a conventional bicycle into an e-bike.
To do this, simply attach the motor to the seat post, the rear wheel is then driven by a wheel at the rear end of the device. To ensure the most natural riding experience possible, Asus Oxiis detects the road’s incline and comes with a wireless sensor that measures cadence, allowing the motor to respond more quickly than if it were only detecting speed.
The motor delivers a continuous power output of 250 watts and a peak power output of 500 watts, and can assist cyclists up to a speed of 32 km/h or 25 km/h, depending on the region. The built-in 158.4 Wh battery can be charged via USB-C at up to 100 watts. When the battery reaches the end of its service life, it can be replaced in just a few simple steps. Asus claims a range of 50 kilometers in "Eco" mode, and three assistance levels can be selected via the accompanying smartphone app. The device, which weighs 3.7 kilograms, is IPX4-certified and thus protected against rain.
Pricing and availability
The Asus Oxiis E250G1 Intelligent Bike Booster is expected to launch sometime in 2026, though Asus has not yet confirmed any specific details regarding the price or launch date. Details on the features can be found on the official product page.
