Appple to launch ultra-premium foldable with iPad mini software and 1 TB storage

Apple is not expected to officially unveil the iPhone Fold until September. By that time, it seems likely that Honor and Oppo will have launched the Magic V6 and Find N6 globally. Likewise, past release schedules indicate that Google and Samsung will have replaced the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Galaxy Z Fold7 (curr. $1,119 - refurbished on Amazon) with newer models.
In the meantime, Mark Gurman has shed new light on how Apple plans to update iOS to accommodate a foldable form factor. Reportedly, Apple will borrow heavily from iPadOS. However, Gurman does not expect the company to bring across all the multitasking features now baked into its tablet operating system.
Instead, two apps should be capable of running side-by-side like on the iPad mini. Moreover, Apple will encourage developers to modify their apps with left-hand sidebars to simplify navigation and file searching. Gurman stresses that the iPhone Fold has not eliminated the display crease altogether, nor will it feature under-panel camera technology.
Apparently, Apple prototyped the latter but moved to a conventional punch-hole camera because of poor image clarity. This visible camera also allows Apple to integrate Dynamic Island software functionality, even if biometrics are handled by a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Meanwhile, Instant Digital alleges that Apple is targeting the following pricing in China, which would eclipse the Galaxy Z Fold7's starting price of CNY 13,999 (~$2,035) in China:
- 256 GB - CNY 15,999 (~$2,329)
- 512 GB - CNY 17,999 (~$2,619)
- 1 TB - CNY 19,999 (~$2,910)
