Apple has presented its most affordable completely wireless earphones to date, the Beats Solo Buds, which are designed to impress with detailed sound. The particularly small charging case and special ventilation openings on the earphones are designed to ensure comfort, both in your pocket and in your ears.

The brand new Beats Solo Buds are positioned as a cheaper alternative to the Beats Studio Buds+. Apple has omitted several features from the new model to ensure the lower price, starting with active noise cancellation (ANC), a transparency mode and the ability to automatically pause playback when taking the earphones off the ear.

Not only does the absence of these features allow for a lower price, but also a much longer battery life, as the earbuds themselves last an impressive 18 hours without a charging case. The case does not have a battery at all, so it only serves as a USB-C adapter, so to speak, to charge the earphones themselves.

This allows the case to be extremely compact; the red version is also partially transparent. The earphones are compatible with both Android smartphones and the Apple iPhone, including automatic pairing and support for Apple's "Find My" and Google's "Find My Device" networks.

Apple primarily advertises the sound quality, as the earphones are said to produce uncompromising clarity and a warm sound thanks to drivers with a two-layer membrane. The product page speaks of a balanced tuning without bass boost. A ventilation opening is intended to increase both audio quality and wearing comfort, while silicone ear tips in four sizes are designed to ensure a perfect fit in every ear.

Price and availability

The Beats Solo Buds will soon be available on the market for a recommended retail price of $79.99 in a choice of red, purple, gray or black. Further details on the completely wireless earphones can be found on the Beats website.
