Apple users in search of a budget-conscious audio setup with some nice features should head over to Amazon today. Apple's 2nd and 3rd Generation AirPods are both on sale, matching their lowest prices ever.

The AirPods 2nd Generation (or AirPods 2) retain the design of the original AirPods with long stems coming off simple earbuds. However, the AirPods 2 are powered by Apple's H1 audio chip (the same silicon that powers the AirPods Max) and support an always-on mode for calling Siri (via saying "Hey Siri"). Apple rates the AirPods 2 at 5 hours of battery life for the buds and 24 hours of battery life for the case, which charges via Apple's Lightning port. The AirPods 2 can register a double tap for starting or stopping playback, skipping tracks, or answering phone calls.

For a bit more cash, buyers can snag the 3rd Generation AirPods (aka AirPods 3). These share the same design as the AirPods Pro, sans the rubber ear tips. While they have the same H1 audio chip and always-on Siri interaction as the AirPods 2, Apple's 3rd gen TWS buds are rated for longer battery life (6 hours for the buds, 30 hours for the case) and support spatial audio with dynamic head tracking. The AirPods 3 also have an adaptive EQ that allows users to dial in the sound profile to their liking. Lastly, the AirPods 3 have a more robust set of on-bud controls that rely on squeezing the pods' stems rather than a touch.

A quick note: while both generations of AirPods have a good feature set, keep in mind they lack active noise cancelation (ANC) and are one-size fits all (meaning they may not fit as well as other buds for some users).
