Amazon Echo Spot (2024) launches with new design, better sound and 44% launch discount
The Amazon Echo Spot was first launched in 2018, but was discontinued the following year. Five years later, Amazon is now presenting a new model that basically looks like an Echo Pop, but the upper half of the front has been replaced by a 2.8-inch rectangular touchscreen with a resolution of 320 x 240.
This makes the display much smaller than the round screen of the first-generation Echo Spot, but has allowed Amazon to install a front-facing speaker with a diameter of 44.5 millimetres, which promises better sound. The Echo Spot (2024) is primarily marketed as an alarm clock, which is not surprising given its compact format. The touchscreen not only displays a clock and upcoming alarms, but also allows users to control smart home devices, view the weather forecast or display calendar entries.
