Some early iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max units are already exhibiting OLED burn-in issues. Somehow, the issues are occurring after a few weeks of use, which is atypical for OLED burn-in.

An increasing number of iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max owners are complaining about experiencing display burn-in on their devices. For reference, burn-in is a well-known problem phenomenon for OLED panels, whereby content becomes imprinted and visible at all times. Sometimes confused with temporary image retention, OLED burn-in cannot be repaired or resolved like stuck pixels.

Typically, OLED burn-in occurs after years of use. However, there are already numerous cases of Apple's latest flagships experiencing this issue littered across Apple Support, MacRumors Forums and Reddit. Based on anecdotal evidence, burn-in is occurring in general use, rather than due to Apple's always-on display or StandBy functionalities being enabled.

Apple has not commented on any potential burn-in issues yet, nor is there necessarily one reason underpinning the problems shown below. Potentially, iOS 17's overheating bug could be at fault, although this should now be resolved with iOS 17.0.3. Alternatively, some models may have simply shipped with display faults that eventually became apparent. Regardless, Apple is reportedly exchanging affected devices under warranty.
