The Apple Watch Ultra 2 (from $649 on Amazon) was launched back in September 2023, so the expensive smartwatch is almost two years old by now. This September, Apple is finally expected to unveil a new iteration of the Apple Watch Ultra. MacRumors has already published details about the screen resolution of this new smartwatch, which was found in the code of the latest iOS 26 beta version.
Accordingly, the flagship smartwatch's OLED display will have a resolution of 514 x 422 pixels, instead of 502 x 410 pixels on the Apple Watch Ultra 2. If the pixel density remains unchanged, the smartwatch will get a 2.9% wider and 2.3% taller display, which would result in 5.4% more screen real estate. This leak suggests that Apple will revise the smartwatch's design at least a little. If the case design doesn't change, the larger display should at least lead to noticeably smaller bezels.
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is expected to be officially unveiled on Tuesday, September 9. In addition to the slightly larger display, some other features are expected, including satellite connectivity for emergency calls, a more modern LTPO3 OLED panel whose always-on display can be updated more frequently, an integrated 5G modem, and an improved Apple S11 chipset. Rudimentary blood pressure measurement might also be onboard. While not showing precise values, the wearable might be able to show a warning for high blood pressure.
