In September, Apple is expected to unveil its thinnest iPhone yet. The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to have a case just 5.5 millimeters thick, making it 0.3 millimeters thinner than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. While Samsung and Apple have taken different approaches with their ultra-thin flagships, the Nubia Air is clearly inspired by the Apple iPhone 17 Air.
Starting with the name "Nubia Air", which appears to be final, according to a logo recently published by highly reliable leaker Evan Blass, along with a graphic representation of the front and back, which may have come from a manual or the manufacturer's technical data. The lines suggest that Nubia is using these graphics to explain the smartphone's various components to customers.
Nubia appears to have even adopted the pill-shaped camera module from Apple, placing the main camera on the left side and the LED flash on the right, just on like the iPhone 17 Air. The rectangular area below the camera module may well be the location of the NFC chip. Only the front differs from the iPhone 17 Air in that Nubia installs a smaller punch-hole with only one camera, thus likely foregoing secure 3D facial recognition.
In return, the Nubia Air apparently has a fingerprint sensor that is invisibly installed under the display. This in turn likely confirms that an OLED panel is installed. The volume buttons and lock button are visible on the right side, while the bottom houses the speakers, microphones and a USB-C port. Information about when or at what price the Nubia Air will launch is still pending.
