G-Flip: Affordable mini PC with 5-inch pop-up display gets Intel Meteor Lake-H CPU options

Aoostar is quite a well-known name in the realm of mini PCs, and the brand is no stranger to unique designs. For instance, the G-Flip, which was revealed earlier this year, is a compact mini PC with a 5-inch pop-up display. Originally available with the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU, the system is now also configurable with Intel's Meteor Lake offerings.

To be precise, the Aoostar G-Flip mini PC can now be equipped with the Intel Core Ultra 5 125H and Core Ultra 7 155H "Meteor Lake-H" chips. The Core Ultra 5 125H is a 14-core, 18-thread CPU, whereas the Core Ultra 7 155H is a 16-core, 22-thread CPU with a roughly 18% lead in multi-core performance. That said, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 "Strix Point" APU is still miles ahead, boasting a 40% lead in multi-core benchmarks.

There is no option for discrete GPUs, which means that the Intel variant of the Aoostar G-Flip mini PC will have to rely solely on the 7- or 8-core Arc iGPUs piggybacked on the Meteor Lake-H chips. Like the AMD variant, there is an OCuLink port on offer, which should allow for speedy eGPU connections without a substantial performance hit.

The port selection is pretty decent, including four USB-A (10 Gbps), dual USB4, dual 2.5 G Ethernet, OCuLink, as well as an audio jack. WiFi 7 takes care of wireless networking. The aforementioned 5-inch pop-up display sports a resolution of 1920 x 1080, which is pretty sharp considering its size. A fingerprint scanner is also present, which is always welcome. Dual DDR5 memory slots and dual M.2 PCIe 4.0 x 4 slots take care of memory and storage (Crucial P310 1 TB NVMe SSD curr. $64.99 on Amazon) requirements.

The Intel Core Ultra 5-equipped Aoostar G-Flip mini PC is priced at 2,999 Yuan, or roughly $418. The higher-tier Core Ultra 7 variant costs another $98. Both of these systems are noticeably cheaper than the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370-powered SKU, which retails for roughly $590.
