What has already been announced in China and the US over the past few weeks is now official in Europe as well. Anker is recalling four power banks. However, Anker isn't the only manufacturer affected, as other brands of portable chargers for smartphones and similar mobile devices have also relied on these problematic battery cells.
This is frustrating for customers but also for the manufacturers. After all, such recalls cost a bunch of money, but they are supposed to ensure user safety. The following four Anker power banks are affected by this latest recall:
- Anker Power Bank (10,000mAh, 22.5W) — model A1257
- Anker Power Bank (20,000mAh, 22.5W, integrated USB-C cable) — model A1647
- Anker Zolo Power Bank (20,000mAh, 30W, integrated USB-C cable and Lightning cable) — model A1681
- Anker Zolo Power Bank (20,000mAh, 30W, integrated USB-C cable) — model A1689
Anker’s official websites for the affected European markets offer more info on the recall and how to get a refund.
Furthermore, Anker is urging owners to stop using the power banks immediately. That said, affected power banks should not be put into the regular household trash. Anker recommends that these devices should be disposed of properly at (recycling) facilities that accept lithium batteries.
