Product recall: Anker power banks recalled due to potential fire hazard
Earlier this year in June, Anker recalled its 321 Power Bank 'A1112' following the discovery of a potential fire risk due to a manufacturing defect that may cause the lithium-ion battery in the power bank to overheat, leading to a serious fire hazard. Regrettably, something very similar has happened yet again - this time involving not one, but three different products deemed hazardous due to similar risks.
The three affected products include the Anker 334 MagGo PowerCore 10K, Power Bank 20K, and the MagGo Power Bank 10K. More precisely, the model numbers of the products are A1642, A1647, and A1652 respectively. Those who happen to be in possession of these aforementioned devices are strongly encouraged to insert their product's serial number in the official page linked here to initiate the required procedure for the recall.
According to Anker, the story is much the same this time around - the potential risk of fire is due to a manufacturing defect, which may cause the lithium-ion batteries to overheat, thereby leading to a fire hazard. Owners of the affected power banks are urged to stop using their devices immediately and store them in a safe, isolated place. Further, those intending to dispose of their powerbanks are strongly urged to not leave them in a trash or recycling bin, but rather submit them to a facility that is equipped to accept lithium-ion batteries.
