Anker Innovations has announced a voluntary recall of approximately 1.16 million units of its PowerCore 10000 (model A1263) portable power banks in the United States. The recall, which was issued on June 12, 2025, is due to a risk of the lithium-ion battery overheating, which further poses fire and burn hazards to consumers.
The affected devices were sold online through Anker, Amazon, Newegg, and eBay between June 2016 and December 2022, typically priced around $27. The model number "A1263" and the serial number prefix "SN" can be found on the bottom of the unit. Only units with eligible serial numbers are included in the recall, and consumers are advised to verify their device’s eligibility by visiting anker.com/product-recalls.
So far, there have been 19 reported incidents linked to this model, including two minor burn injuries and 11 cases of property damage totaling over $60,700. Consumers are instructed to stop using the product immediately and register for a free replacement. Anker requires a photo of the power bank showing the model number, serial number, and the word "recalled" written clearly on it with a permanent marker. Although a purchase receipt is not mandatory, proper disposal must be confirmed in line with local hazardous waste regulations before a replacement is issued.
Please note that improper disposal of lithium-ion batteries can pose environmental risks.
