Pixel Experience is a very popular ROM that covers a wide range of devices from both major and less known brands. The list of supported devices includes handsets from Asus, Google, Lenovo, Motorola, Nubia, OnePlus, Samsung, Sony, Xiaomi, Teracube, Realme, and Teracube. Last year, the Mi A1 received two ROM versions based on Android 10, a regular one and a Plus flavor. Now, the time has come for Android 11.
Before moving on, I have to highlight that the Pixel Experience ROM that I installed on my old Xiaomi Mi A1 is still in Beta stage. If everything goes smoothly, the final Android 11-based build will come out before the end of March. However, I must confess that I find the ROM to be very good already.
As usual, now I will highlight the elements that I consider to be the highs and lows of the Android 11-based Pixel Experience ROM that is now running on my Xiaomi Mi A1:
- Positive: Easy to install, all Google apps and services included, as well as Pixel media content such as ringtones and wallpapers, February 2021 security patch, the capacitive buttons work as intended.
- Negative: Still in Beta stage, no quick settings customization, no aptX support, no Dirac Sound, I was not able to connect to the Creative Outlier Air V2.
Drawing the line, I can say without any hesitation that I like Pixel Experience a lot. Although crDroid remains my favorite Android 11-based ROM for the Mi A1, Pixel Experience comes pretty close and I can hardly wait to see the final release. The lack of aptX support and Dirac Sound are those two problems that would keep me away from it, but the overall experience is all right.
Do you have anything to say about Pixel Experience? It doesn't have to be one of the versions for the Mi A1, I am curious about the strong and weak parts of the releases for other handsets as well. The comments section is all yours, as usual, so feel free to share your thoughts with the rest of us.
