Android 10 is not hitting the Redmi Note 8 this month

While the Redmi Note 8 Pro has already received Android 10, it seems that Xiaomi is putting the OS upgrade on hold for the Redmi Note 8 until at least next month. Released to handsets today, the latest MIUI 11 update remains on Android 9.0 Pie and only brings a handful of changes.

While the Redmi Note 8 Pro started receiving Android 10 at the end of last month, there has been no such luck for the regular Redmi Note 8. Indeed, even the Redmi Note 7 Pro has started receiving Android 10 in some regions. Sadly, a new update for the Redmi Note 8 effectively scuppers the idea of the device being upgraded to Google's latest OS this month.

The update, which will arrive as an OTA, includes the following changes:

Other

  • Optimization: Increased system stability
  • Optimization: Reduced system lag

If you are yet to receive V11.0.7.0.PCOMIXM, then you can download the full build manually from Xiaomi's servers. Please note that this is a 2.0 GB download. Alternatively, you can download the 457 MB OTA if your device is already running V11.0.6.0.PCOMIXM. It is worth keeping in mind that this is a Beta Stable build too, which means that it is currently being rolled out to a select number of handsets before Xiaomi initiates a wider rollout.

Unsurprisingly, Redmi Note 8 owners are unhappy that the new update does not also bring an upgrade to Android 10. Xiaomi typically updates its devices every one to two months, meaning that Android 10 is unlikely to arrive on the Redmi Note 8 before April at the earliest.
