Anbernic is selling the RG35XX with a dual-boot option. Available from US$57.99, the new Anbernic RG35XX supports GarlicOS courtesy of Black Seraph.

Anbernic has given the RG35XX a minor refresh, six months after the device's debut. Contrary to earlier rumours, it does not appear that Anbernic has upgraded the RG35XX's battery, casing or chipset. Instead, the company offers the gaming handheld with a dual-boot option.

Initially, Anbernic only sold the RG35XX with its own Linux distribution. However, the new RG35XX supports GarlicOS, a distribution designed by Black Seraph, which contains more customisation options and usability improvements than the regular Linux distribution. Fundamentally, the new RG35XX contains the same hardware as the original model, though. Thus, it features a 3.5-inch display that resolves at 640 x 480 pixels, as well as a chipset that packs four ARM Cortex-A9 CPU cores and a quad-core PowerVR SG544MP GPU.

Additionally, the gaming handheld has 256 MB of DDR3 RAM, a 2,600 mAh battery that is rated for up to 6 hours between charges and the regular assortment of gamepad buttons. At the time of writing, Anbernic charges US$57.99 for the new RG35XX. Alternatively, the device is orderable for US$72.99 with a 128 GB MicroSD card for storing games. Currently, Anbernic offers the new RG35XX in grey, purple and white finishes.
