After an announcement and some delays, Innersloth and Schell Games have officially released Among Us 3D for Steam PC players today (that is, May 6, 2025). This brings the iconic deception and teamwork gameplay in an immersive 3D, first-person format - no VR headset required.
Among Us 3D retains the best parts of the original - Crewmates complete tasks while Impostors sabotage and eliminate them. However, this new iteration of the game takes things up a notch with native proximity voice chat, allowing players to communicate without third-party apps.
The PC version is fully crossplay-compatible with the VR editions (Among Us 3D: VR) available on Meta Quest, SteamVR, PlayStation VR2, and Pico platforms. However, Among Us 3D is not compatible with the original 2D Among Us game.
As promised, Among Us 3D offers two maps - Skeld II and Polus Point - which have been adapted from Among Us VR. Gamers can play new and returning mini-games with first-person controls, as well as customise their “Beansonas” with various combinations of hats, gloves, and skins.
As mentioned, the game also introduces Stardust, which is a premium in-game currency used exclusively for cosmetic purchases. Stardust comes in bundles priced between $1.99 and $39.99 USD and does not expire. However, Stardust is platform-specific and cannot be transferred between platforms or used in the original Among Us game.
As part of a broader rebranding, Among Us VR has been folded into the Among Us 3D family. Cosmetic purchases made in the VR version remain accessible after the transition, although users might experience a delay when loading their items initially.
While Among Us 3D and Among Us 3D: VR remain separate purchases, a discounted bundle is available for players who already own the VR version.
