The Amazfit Active 2 (Round) smartwatch is receiving a new software update. Referred to as OTA 4.1 or firmware version 6.3.8.3, it is currently rolling out to users in some countries. It arrives a couple of months after the wearable’s first Zepp OS 5 release, which added a new map dragging tool and tap-to-wake functionality.
The OTA 4.1 update for the Active 2 (Round) brings several new features. Users of this smartwatch can now take screenshots, achieved by pressing the wearable’s two buttons at the same time. These users also get new advanced running metrics like vertical oscillation and ground contact time, functions which also recently arrived for the brand’s T-Rex 3 smartwatch.
This release for the Active 2 (Round) also brings a new ultra-marathon sports mode and jump rope reminders. There is a new setting that enables the watch to unlock automatically when you raise your wrist while exercising. Plus, the buttons can now function regardless of whether the screen is active or inactive. Finally, users will be able to see the source of the heart rate data, with different icons for on-watch and external Bluetooth heart rate measurements.
Software version 6.3.8.3 is now rolling out to users of the Amazfit Active 2 (Round) smartwatch (curr. $99.99 at Amazon) in the US, Canada and China. The company announced in a recent post on Discord that the update is scheduled to be pushed to all users globally from October 10th.
