Garmin has moved to offering a new stable update for some of its older Forerunner smartwatches extending back to the Forerunner 255 (curr. $279 on Amazon). The first for the Forerunner 165, Forerunner 955 and Forerunner 965 in under a month, System Software 25.06 is the culmination of a short-lived beta phase following the introduction of System Software 25.04 in early September.
Specifically, System Software 25.06 arrives roughly a week after Garmin pushed Beta Version 25.06 to public Beta Program participants. As we discussed at the time, v25.06 is said to improve general stability across all compatible Forerunner smartwatches. Unfortunately, Garmin has still not elaborated further in this regard.
Moreover, the new stable update fixes an issue that caused settings to be hidden after adding a custom alert. Software Version 25.06 should reach the Forerunner 165, Forerunner 255, Forerunner 265, Forerunner 955 and Forerunner 965 within the next days. If that has not already happened with your smartwatch, you can request Garmin's new update manually by navigating through Menu, System, Software Update and then tapping 'Check for Updates'. Please see Garmin's forum post for more details.
