Garmin has introduced a new update for many of its older Forerunner smartwatches. Rolling out on the company's Beta Program ahead of a future stable release, Beta Version 25.06 brings a few important changes to the table including a fix for a bug plaguing custom alerts.

Garmin has delivered a new batch of updates to its older Forerunner smartwatches, having released the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 earlier this year. Incidentally, the company has just launched the Venu 4 too (curr. $549.99 on Amazon). Please see our dedicated launch article for full details about how Garmin distinguishes the Venu 4 from recent Forerunner and Venu smartwatches.

With that in mind, Garmin has somewhat relegated the Forerunner 255, Forerunner 955, Forerunner 165, Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 965 to a limited development schedule. For context, the company issued Beta Version 25.02 almost a month ago with five overarching changes from its most recent stable update for those five smartwatches. While Garmin has jumped to Beta Version 25.06, it has not brought many refinements to the table.

In fact, one of Garmin's featured changes in Beta Version 25.06 relates to improving 'general stability'. Additionally, the company reports that it has fixed an issue that could cause settings to be hidden across its older Forerunner models after adding a first custom alert. Beta Version 25.06 must be downloaded by navigating through the Main menu, Settings, System and Software Update on a Beta Program-enrolled smartwatch before tapping 'Check For Updates'.
