Following the initial hands-on photos of the Coros Apex 4 that surfaced a few days ago, more images of the smartwatch have now appeared on Reddit ahead of its official announcement on October 15, a date Coros has already confirmed on a corresponding teaser website.
Compared to the Apex 2 (from $349 on Amazon), the design is significantly different, though Coros still opts for a display with relatively wide bezels and a large "Coros" lettering on the front. A promo picture already reveals that the smartwatch will be offered in 42mm and 46mm variants. Depending on the size, the watch offers a battery life of 65 or 41 hours with continuous GPS usage, up from 40 hours on the Apex 2. The predecessor has a runtime of 13 days with regular usage.
According to one of these marketing images, the Coros Apex 4 has 30 times more performance when using maps and rendering graphics, while the maps themselves are expected to contain more data than before. Coros is reportedly utilizing an improved "dual-range barometer" to more accurately determine altitude, and in combination with the GPS module, to pinpoint the user's position even more precisely.
Integrated speakers and microphones can be used to make phone calls as long as the connected smartphone is within range. Lastly, the Coros Apex 4 is equipped with a MiP display, which is designed to remain easily readable even in direct sunlight and sports a backlight for nighttime use.
