Garmin has delivered a new beta update for the Fenix 7 Pro and its peers, shortly after delivering a third stable update for its successor (curr. $1,199 on Amazon). For context, the company introduced System Software 23.18 almost a month ago with almost two-dozen bug fixes, new features and improvements for not just the Fenix 7 and Fenix 7 Pro but also the Enduro 2, Epix 2, Marq Gen 2 and the Quatix 7.
At the time, Garmin claimed that v23.18 concluded its 23.xx Beta development period. However, it has now returned to that same development phase with Beta Version 23.22, which it has decided against offering automatically. Instead, one must trigger the update's download manually by selecting 'Check for Updates' after navigating from the Main Menu to System and then Software Update.
In a forum post, Garmin clarifies that Beta Version 23.22 only introduces bug fixes. Specifically, the new update bundles four fixes, two of which are linked to the company's IR SOS message service. Moreover, Beta Version 23.22 introduces a change to prevent a system crash when updating software. The full Beta Version 23.22 changelog is as follows:
- Fix a potential device shutdown when updating software.
- Fix an issue where the device could not cancel an IR SOS message.
- Fix an issue where the satellite notification would not get shown on the activity stage page.
- Fix an issue where IR SOS messages would sometimes be divided amongst several threads.
