The new version of the Alienware Area-51 with AMD Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs was originally announced at CES in early January, and several configurations with AMD’s current desktop processors have now become available for purchase.
Specifically, the desktop gaming PC can be ordered at Dell’s official online shop. The customizable base configuration with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080, 32GB DDR5 memory, and a 1TB SSD starts at $3,849. The maxed-out SKU with the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, 64GB RAM, an RTX 5090 and 8TB of SSD storage costs a whopping $7,599. These prices already include the advertised discounts.
Gamers who opt for the Alienware Area-51 get a custom case that cannot be purchased separately. With dimensions of 22.4 x 24.0 x 9.09 inches and a weight of 76.1 lbs, the Area-51 is anything but compact. Alienware uses the space for a cooling system that supposedly allows the processor to run continuously at a power draw of 200 watts, while the GPU draws 600 watts.
The cooling system is said to run 45% quieter than the previous model while moving 25% more air. The dust filters can be removed from the case for cleaning. Alienware further includes RGB lighting, which can be adjusted across seven zones, as well as an Alienware ATX motherboard that offers two USB-C ports with support for USB 4.
