Acer now offering the Swift 3 with NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics
Acer announced the Swift 3 notebook with Intel 'Whiskey Lake-U' CPU options and the NVIDIA GeForce MX150 GPU at IFA 2018. NVIDIA quietly made the GeForce MX250 official just yesterday and Acer has begun offering an upgraded Swift 3 with the MX250. GPU upgrade aside, the rest of the specs remain more or less the same.
The MX250 is not much of an upgrade over the MX150 and is more of a re-badge with slightly higher clocks. That being said, it should offer a decent upgrade from Intel's UHD Graphics 620 iGPU. Similar to the MX150, the new MX250 will also be available in 10W and 25W TDP variants, but we aren't sure of the variant being used in the Swift 3.
Weighing in at around 1.6 kg, the Swift 3 features a 14-inch full HD IPS panel, Intel Core i5-8265U or Core i7-8565U CPU options, up to 24 GB of DDR4-2400 RAM, up to 1 TB of PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD, and the NVIDIA GeForce MX250 GPU. Acer promises a battery life of up to 12 hours with the 4-cell 3,220 mAh battery. Other features include a backlit keyboard and a decent port selection comprised of two USB 3.0 ports, a USB 3.1 Type-C port, an HDMI port, and a combo-audio jack.
It is not fully clear whether the 13-inch Swift 3 is also getting an MX250 upgrade or if it is just limited to the 14-inch variant. The new Swift 3 will be available in Flame Red, Cherry Pink, Royal Blue, and Silver colors.
